they just start to align with the rest of my hair and not cover my forehead anymore... and when i re-part it, it covers all of it and then a week later it gets really thin and starts grouping with my hair again

make a side part, and get more hair from the top of your head to make the bangs fuller...
If your bangs are thick enough cut the bottom layer a little shorter than the top.
Dry them while combing underneath them and bring them together.
