Washing hair everyday? How to stop?

I'm 16 and have washed my hair everyday for around 4 years now and I dye it often too, so yeah, I'm seeing damage appear, in holidays if I'm not going out I can leave it greasy for a day, but I have a phobia (if you would) of going out with greasy hair, i can't stand the thought!

How can I get so I can wash my hair less frequently when I have this weird phobia?!

Please please help! :(Washing hair everyday? How to stop?
Buy dry shampoo. It'll take the grease out but you won't need to wash it everyday.Washing hair everyday? How to stop?
I'm the same way. I wash my hair every day because if I don't, it's greasy. The only suggestion I have is to wash it one day and then not the next and just put your hair in a ponytail so it doesn't appear as greasy. Your hair will gradually stop producing as much oil but it will take some time. You can also try those dry shampoos for the day you don't wash your hair. They're just a spray and it helps a little with greasiness. If your hair looks very damaged, I'd recommend you deep condition it at least once a week and also try not to use a lot of products or heat on your hair. Most hairsprays contain alcohol which dries out your hair, damaging it further when you blow dry it.
just dont go in the bath or showeer its quite simple, otherwise you will go bald probs
I feel the same way. I sometimes just rinse my hair in the shower w/ out washing it.
The damage is from u dying ur hair not washing it. Who would even consider not washing their hair everyday anyways, that nasty. Hygiene comes first. Stop dying ur hair so much and maybe ur hair wouldn't be such a mess.

P.S. That's not a phobia. It's called cleanliness.
i would use a leave in like super 10 its the best get it from tgf
I have the same problem, my hair is naturally really greasy, so I always want to wash it everyday (which is NOT good for your hair, washing it constantly is damaging, and if you can go a day without having to shampoo your hair will be healthier). And to make things worse, I color it red, so washing it everyday makes my color fade super quick.

Before I colored my hair, I found a few shampoos made for oily hair that really helped me out. But, they are really deep cleansing and take out my color now, so I stopped using them. I haven't found any shampoos that make my hair less oily, with out fading my color. But, I discovered 'dry shampoo' and it is amazing. It's usually in cans, and you spray it over your hair and it absorbs the oil.

As for the damage, try using a deep conditioner or a hair mask. Using one of these 2 or 3 times a week will make your hair healthier and maintain your color.
You can do the dry shampoo at the roots. It makes it look less greasy. Also the less styling products you use after you wash it will also help from keeping it greasy looking. Another thing would be to find a cute way to wear it up on the days you are trying to stretch going with out washing.

I have gone to washing my hair once every three days for the most part for the same reason. I dye it, and use blow dryer and it is getting damaged more easy now. When I do wash I use normal shampoo but only on the scalp. Not the rest of my hair. Then for conditioner I use a deep kind that you are suppose to leave in for 5-15 minutes. I have two that I alternate between. One for color treated hair and one thats deep moisturizing. During this 5-15 minutes that I leave it in is when I take the time so shave my legs, etc. and wash the rest of my body. When done in the shower I put my hair up in a towel while I do my skin care so it drys a little bit with out a blow dryer. Then when done with that I blow dry it straight. Don't use any no frizz type stuff or any thing else because those products make your hair look greasy faster. This regime has done wonders for my hair. I also have found a couple cute style to put it up for when I get to the third day of not washing. Use the dry shampoo on the areas of the part when I have it handy.
I went through washing my hair every single day for about a year but then I made myself stop and only wash it every other day because I read somewhere that if you wash it everyday you actually strip some of the natural oils from it and it makes it become greasy a lot faster. I did it during a week where I wasn't going to school or out really and I just forced myself to do it every other day even though it felt greasy. After that first week it was sooo much better! Now I just wash it every other day and it's not greasy at all. So you might try that seeing as you've been washing it every day for 4 years already, it might just be okay with being done every other day after a bit. :)
